On Mar. 27, 2010 the members of DiscDoGG provided a disc dog seminar to the Aussie Meet up group of Sacramento. Our awesome group of trainers included Patrick and Sabrina, Mai, Cindy, Robbie and Carol, Mark, Steve and Mike. The seminar was a huge success as many aussies caught their first frisbee this day and were eager for more!
The pups and handlers were all taught the methods of getting your dog started as we broke into small groups. Then, we worked on the throwing skills of the handlers and had them practice accuracy and increasing distance. They even learned a few new throws and were having a blast! The dogs came back out and we worked on short tosses while introducing an around/through command. They were now ready to compete!
The competition was so much fun and we got such great feedback from the students. The winning dog had never seen a frisbee before this day, but caught 4 out of 5 to take top honors! They were pretty excited! Many of the students have joined us on Facebook and the feedback they have left is sooo cool! Check out the Aussie Meet up Group of Sacramento.
For me, this day is what this club is all about! Everyone was there early and with sleeves rolled up and ready to work. We were all very light hearted and enjoying ourselves very much. I was so impressed with all the trainers, who were so polite and encouraging to the students. Great job everyone and thank you!

Ashley Whippet Invitational World Championship
On Mar. 20, 2010 several Norcal teams traveled south to Edison High School in lovely Hunington Beach for the Ashley Whippet Invitational World Championship qualifier. The weather was warm and morning gentle breezes picked up and became a bit more windy in the afternoon, but the competitors handled it well.
The AWI, Hero Disc USA, D2ISC and Total Performance Staff did a great job of making this event both fun and well paced. Shortly before the competition started, Matt Diano announced that Todd is the newest member of Team Hero and Kirby is the newest Scout Team member. The place went WILD and it was very cool to be there for that!
Traveling from the North was Jonathon Offi, Michelle Martin, Jason Largent, Steve and Jill Teer, Donna Malmlov and the club's old friends Chris and Trish Perondi. Norcal teams represented very well! After 8 yrs since he last competed, Chris Perondi and Furrari had an awesome day taking 1st place and the top AWI qualifying spot. Jonathon and Aztec were right on Chris's heels with great rounds all day and finishing in 2nd place. Kirby and Sketch, Al and George and Jeff and Enzo also qualified for the AWI Worlds.
A huge congrats to all the qualifiers. Steve and Irish had a solid freestyle that had them in 5th place after freestyle, but Irish spooked a bit in T & C and they dropped to 22nd place. It was so good to see Donna and Syd back and in great form. They made the cut to the top 15 and placed a very respectable 12th place. Michelle and Jasmine busted out some cool new moves in a very fun and creative routine. Despite not feeling well and with Jasmine bouncing off the walls to play, they still finished a respectable 18th place out of 42 open competitors. Jonathon and Ruby are looking great out there and Aztec has some Pittie competition in his own household! Trish and Flash wowed the crowd with a cool routine that really showed what an athlete Flash is!
This day also held the D2ISC challenge for all the T & F enthusiasts. Jason and Harley took 1st in the Advanced division and Jason also tied for 2nd with Jasmine, but ended up in 4th after tie breaking criteria. Jonathon and Brooklyn took the 2nd place spot and Ron Cole and Arrow took 3rd. Even old man Guinness had a good day catching 6 out of 9 throws and loving his time on the field. It was a great day for Norcal and a great day to be a discdogger! Hunington Beach is a fun place and Sunday had many of us going to "dog beach" and having a blast before our long drives home.

On Aug.9 2009, DisDoGG's newest members, Frank Rosenblum, Jennifer Moore and Pismo traveled to Colorado to compete in the Quadruped. This would be only their third competition! Jennifer and Pismo had a very respectable showing, but Frank and Pismo earned themselves a new nickname, "the dark horse". They were completely unknown and came into the Men's Open to win their heat, move into the Finals and take 3rd place in the very competitive Men's Open division! Way to go Team Pismo!
