Colorado Canine Challenge, UFO Major – Aug 12 2006

The Quadruped, Aug 13, 2006 (Results)

Club members Lou & Cindy Del Corto, Donna Malmlov and hubby Steve made the trip out to Colorado to participate in the 2006 Colorado Canine Challenge. The Colorado Disc Dogs always put on a great event and this year did not disappoint. It’s a nice event to meet up with many other disc dog teams from around the country and have a good time enjoying the sport we love with our dogs.

Saturday’s UFO Open competition was quite fierce with the Toss and Catch round being an important factor. Steve held on to take 1st place and Donna finished a respectable 16th. Tank & I scored a big goose egg in the intermediate division but didn’t feel bad as half the other teams did too. The wind on the back field was tough on us all.

I love the Quadraped! This is the one event where all of the subjectivity in disc dogging goes out the window and it comes down to you and your dogs skill, strategy and luck. The longest catch of the day is not always the winner. It’s definitely an event everyone should try at least once in their disc dogging days.

Lou did well with Tank in the Men’s Division finishing 14th. Since he was playing with Tank, I borrowed a dog for the event. Thanks go out to Andy Busby, Colo Disc Dog member, for letting me play with LC, his great little Border Collie. It took a couple of throws to get our timing down but we did well working together and took 2nd place in the Women’s division. Thanks again Andy!
